The end is here. Well, maybe not. It’s not like Google wasn’t spying on you in one way or another already. Now they just want to bring it all under one roof.
If you’ve been living under a rock, or actually don’t have any Google accounts (I have three), then you may not know that Google is unifying its Privacy Policies across all it’s products. It’s actually kind of nice, they used to have over 70 policies, and that was after they pruned them down a little. One of the repercussions is that they’ll now be watching , and recording, your browsing history in the name of making the Internet a more personalized experience.
Unless you turn it off. It’s actually pretty easy to do. Just pop into your account settings, and at the bottom of the page click “go to web history.” Then you can either choose “no thanks” or “turn Web History on.”
It all goes into effect tomorrow, so now is the time to decide. Of course, you can decide tomorrow too–the setting isn’t permanent–but anything you do before you change becomes part of your record. And lets face it, everyone has a dark corner of the Internet they don’t want anyone knowing they visit. Mine is icanhascheezburger.com…
