I’m going to discuss 6 Proven Steps To Sell More Books On Amazon today.
On Amazon, there are over a million titles, and a new book is released every 5 minutes. In Kindle Publishing, your main objective is to sell more books.
“How can you make your book stand out from the numerous other competing books and convert consumers into buyers?” is the query.
If you want to generate more sales on Amazon, believe it or not, it’s all about optimizing for the Amazon algorithm. In this article, I’ll show you how to take advantage of Amazon’s algorithm in six simple steps. You may increase your book’s visibility, sales, and earnings by following these steps.
Before we get into Amazon categories and keyword optimization, it’s important to understand that Amazon is more of a search engine than an online shop.
Although SEO keywords don’t function the same way on Amazon as they do on Google, getting your books to rank high on Amazon will almost certainly increase sales.
There is no secret formula for ranking a book on Amazon, just as there isn’t one for ranking on Google. Furthermore, Amazon is continuously changing and updating the algorithm.
Nonetheless, you may still rank your books on page one or even claim bestseller titles on Amazon, which has over 1 billion eBooks and 3 million printed books. It’s just that many people are still unaware that Amazon has its own search engine.
The more searchable your book is, the simpler it will be for consumers to discover it on Amazon, and the more copies you will sell.
Understanding how to optimize your keywords and categories on Amazon is crucial to making your book more accessible and discoverable.
Amazon is a big fan of keywords. You may improve your ranking and increase your sales by correctly utilizing keywords.
You have the option to add up to 7 search keywords and 2 categories on your Amazon KDP submission page. Using the correct keywords can help prospective readers find your book among Amazon’s millions of other titles.
You’ll want to select keywords that match consumer search phrases and properly represent the topic of your book.
How to Conduct Keyword Research
Go to the Amazon Kindle shop and choose “Kindle eBook” from the left-hand menu. Then, choose a book category.
Here’s an example of a category called “Parenting & Relationships.” More subcategory choices, such as “Adoption” and “Family health,” may be found on the left sidebar. Choose one from the list that best fits your book’s category.
After you’ve selected a category, gently enter your keywords/phrases into Amazon’s search box. You wish to obtain Amazon’s recommended keywords from the drop-down menu in the “Search” box. Make a list of the keywords or phrases that are relevant.
You should also make sure that some of the keywords or phrases appear in your book titles, subtitles, and descriptions.
You must choose at least one category in which you may potentially rank for the browse category.
First, look at the top books in that category in terms of sales. For example, a book ranked #109 is doing very well. It would be very difficult for you to compete and get a better ranking in this area. As a result, you may wish to move ahead and search for other categories.
You may get a sense of how competitive each subcategory is by looking at the book rankings in each subcategory.
Also, keep an eye on the overall quantity of books in each category. Instead of entering into the extremely competitive category Fiction (which has over 2 million eBooks), you should go to Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Fiction > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Thrillers > Terrorism.
Your book will appear in the major categories of Fiction, Mystery, Thriller, and Suspense, so don’t worry. Not only can you improve your book exposure by selecting a restricted subcategory, but you also have a better chance of appearing in the top 100 lists, which will lead to more book sales.
It will assist Amazon search engine lead interested consumers to your book if you choose the correct 7 keywords and best 2 categories.
The secret to long-term Kindle sales is to produce books on a regular basis. So, how frequently should a book be published?
Many experts have suggested a 90-Day Cliff, and the most recent one is a 30-Day Cliff. This implies that after 30 days of publication, your book is less likely to sell. This is particularly true for Amazon writers with a low profile. To enter into the Amazon algorithm’s waves, you’ll need to publish a new book within 30 days of the prior one’s publication.
It does not imply that you must publish a full-length book or write manuscripts of hundreds of thousands of words every 30 days. While some writers can write a novel in that time, others choose to write short tales, novellas, or short guidebooks.
Additionally, establishing a series of novels, short tales, or a box set may help you sell more books.
This is the 3-month sales report for one of my books, for example (eBook and paperback versions). I don’t spend any money on book promotion or marketing. All I do is make sure that at least one book in this series is published every month. Even after the 30-day or 90-day timeframe has expired, it continues to generate sales every day.
Don’t be intimidated by the 30-day timeframe. I’m not requesting that you release a new book every month. However, you should do your best and post as often as possible. This will undoubtedly improve your book’s position in Amazon’s book rankings.
Making your first book permanently free on Amazon (also known as Perma Free) can help you increase your sales in the long term if you have a series or several publications.
When readers get engrossed in your work and want to know more, you’ve almost certainly secured a second book sale.
While no one likes the notion of giving their hard work away for free, this strategy is known as fish bait (in a good way). Make sure the cover is well-designed and the content is well-edited.
According to statistics, free books are downloaded 100 times more than premium ebooks. You’ll be able to reach a wider audience and sell more copies in the series if you make your book permanently free on Amazon. Remember to include links to additional books, your website, social media, course, or anything else you want to advertise with your free book.
However, you cannot manually set a book’s price to $0.00 on Amazon. However, if you make a book free on other retailer websites like Smashwords or Draft2digital, Amazon will match the price and your book will be available for free on Amazon indefinitely. Amazon will take weeks to review this and will ultimately make it perma free on Amazon.
Would you prefer to purchase a book with five stars or one with no reviews at all? The ones with reviews have a better chance. Book reviews are crucial in getting your book noticed.
It’s not enough to rely simply on your sales page. To persuade people to purchase your book, you’ll need some social evidence.
Some experts believe that you’ll need at least 50 reviews before Amazon notices your book and incorporates it into their algorithms. In search results for relevant terms, keywords, and subjects, books with 50 favorable ratings will rank significantly higher.
Giving out free copies of your book to individuals who may be interested in your genre and asking them to write an honest review after reading it is one of the greatest methods to obtain book reviews.
However, not everyone will like your book, and you can’t expect everyone to write a review, even if it’s a positive one. In any case, it’s a fantastic method to get started and develop your own list of reviewers.
You may also reach out to Amazon reviewers and book bloggers. Make sure to read their reading policy, submit a book review request, and give them complimentary copies of your book.
You may also hold giveaways or competitions and give away free copies of your book to the winners. Request that they write an Amazon review respectfully.
In short, you’ll want to have good reviews for your book since they’ll make a big impact when people search for it on Amazon.
KDP Select is an exclusive loyalty club for writers that is available as an option. It opens us new opportunities to reach a larger audience and earn more royalties.
You’ll be able to utilize promotional tools like Kindle Free Days and Kindle Countdown Deals if you enroll your book in KDP Select. Your book will also be available via Kindle Unlimited and the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library (KOLL) (KU).
Joining the KDP select program, however, does not ensure success.
Since July 2015, several writers have reported earning less on Amazon as a result of the new payment system, which has changed from paying based on qualifying borrows to paying based on the amount of pages read.
This adjustment has also had an impact on my monthly royalty revenue. To take advantage of this offer, I make the first book in a series Perma free, then enroll the rest of the series in KDP choose. This helps me increase my sales rankings and increase my audience for future publications.
